This annual award is open to all Western Australian artists working in any medium, provided their work reflects a South West influence. Through this award the City of Busselton aims to build a collection of contemporary Western Australian art and promote Saltwater Gallery as an exhibition venue.

The next anticipated award will be held in 2026 in the newly opened A-Class gallery that is currently under construction.
